Courthouse Square in Downtown Opelika

Help us usher in the Christmas season with the magical Snow Much Fun Christmas Extravaganza. This is a new and different event that allows us to have the 2020 Christmas Parade, with a little COVID twist!

The event will feature a reverse walking parade which means the parade entries will be stationary while attendees walk through the parade route. This allows the parade entries to maintain a proper distance within their space, but also allows organizations who are not yet allowed to participate in large events to set up and leave their spaces decorated for all to appreciate.

Snow will also be falling around Courthouse Square for all the children to enjoy.

To attend, here's what to expect:
4:30 PM: Christmas Parade Ribbon Cutting - Join us at the Breezeway area (off 8th street) to enter the parade route!
4:30 - 5:30 PM: Walking Parade Route is OPEN (enter from the Breezeway area on 8th St). On the parade route, you'll find a Socially Distanced Santa Claus, plus snow will be falling & Christmas music will be playing!
5:30 PM: The Opelika High School Marching Band will lead a processional from Courthouse Square to the Large Christmas Tree on S. Railroad Avenue for our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony!

The event will conclude at 6 PM, and we encourage attendees to support our local restaurants and retailers by eating out & shopping to finish the evening festivities!
